The MSc in Occupational Risk Prevention provides you with the necessary knowledge and skills to practice as a senior consultant in the area of Occupational Risk Prevention, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics and Applied Psycho-sociology.

 Advantages of doing the MSc at the Polytechnic School –University of Alicante

The MSc is worth 60 ECTS credits and can be completed full time in one academic year. The part-time option also exists, extending the course of study over two academic years. It offers you the benefit of both a research and practical focus. 

The subject areas are structured around the following three modules:

  • Module 1: Basic training in workplace health and safety management
  • Module 2: Techniques in workplace health and safety management
  • Module 3: Student Placements and Master’s Degree Final Project

 All subjects, including the student placement, are obligatory which guarantees that you develop the skills required in the field of occupational risk prevention, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics and Applied Psycho-sociology, in compliance with regulations set out in Annex VI of Spanish Royal Decree 39/1997.  

The subjects are taught applying the teaching-learning methodology suitable for face-to-face courses. The learning activities include the following: lectures, practical sessions, smaller group activities, seminars (or complementary activities) and continuous assessment

MSc Student accolades

Guillermo Jorge Roca Méndez received third prize for his MSc final project entitled Evaluation of and intervention in psychosocial risk factors for SMEs’, in the XVI edition of  prizes for research conducted in Occupational Risk Prevention , awarded by CSI-F (Independent Central Trade Union of Civil Servants). The MSc final project was directed by Professor Ana Gómez Bernabeu, Department of Communication and Social Psychology.

Miguel Ángel Navarro Roldán received the AEIPRO prize for his MSc final project entitled ‘Identification and analysis of the possible factors reducing theoretical attenuation in hearing protectors’. It was among the best MSc final projects presented at the XVIII International Congress on Project Management and Engineering and was directed by Professor Francisco Brocal Fernández, Department of Physics, Systems Engineering and Signal theory, Polytechnic School.

Pablo Sánchez Murillo received the AEIPRO prize for his MSc final project entitled ‘Determining the Efficiency of Fume Cupboards in Teaching Laboratories’ It was among the best MSc final projects presented at the XX International Congress on Project Management and Engineering and was directed by Professor Pedro Varó Galvañ, Departament of Chemical Engineering, Polytechnic School

Profesor Lucia Blanco has obtained the following accolades:

  • Honorary mention in the research and innovation category for work entitled, ‘Analysis of the use of safety network system type V’ in the Awards for Architectural Technology for Safety in Construction (edition XIV-2007), convened by the General Council of Architectural Technology in Spain.
  • First prize in the Awards for Research and Studies in Occupational Risk Prevention 2006 (edition VIII) for a study entitled ‘Analysis for the use of safety network system type V’ on Occupational Risk Prevention in the construction industry, convened by the General Council of Architectural Technology in Spain.
  • Third prize in the Awards for Research and Studies in Occupational Risk Prevention 2003  ( edition V) for a study entitled, ‘Safety Network Type V. Difficulty for use and proposals for improvement’ on Occupational Risk Prevention in the construction industry, convened by the General Council of Architectural Technology in Spain.
