In order to fully exercise a regulated profession, the relevant academic qualification must be required, as well as passing a test or a training period. Currently, they are governed by the Spanish Royal Decree 1.837/2008.

The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) established that professional level can be acquired with undergraduate degree certifcates (technical engineers and architectural technicians) or with the Master's degree (engineers and architects).

(*) Computer Technical engineers are not regulated by law, although they can work as such with an undergraduate degree certificate.
